ASSIGNMENT THREE:
The next book assignment is A Perfectly Messed-Up Story by Patrick McDonnell. Be sure to test when you're done reading/listening (link below). I always have them read a book three times before testing! After listening to/reading the story, discuss how Louie's story is similar to our lives right now. How are you making the best of a messed-up situation? Get a piece of paper and fold into six boxes. Number the boxes and write the things that messed up Louie's story in sequential order. You can draw a picture to go with it! *Extension activity: Write a sentence or two to explain how Louie's attitude/mindset changed at the end of the story. **To integrate art, draw a scribble on a piece of paper and have your child use that scribble to make a work of art! Show them how you can make the best out of something that seems to be messed-up. Then, revisit the discussion question at the beginning of this post: How else can you make the best of this messed-up situation we are in with school? What more can you do? Talk it out! When you're done, you can snap a picture of your completed activities and post them to the "Look What We Did" post if you'd like! I can't wait to see your work on display!
