ASSIGNMENT FOUR:
The fourth book assignment is Last Stop on Market Street by Matt de la Pena. Be sure to test when you're done reading/listening (link below). I always have them read a book three times before testing! In this story, CJ learns to find beauty in the unexpected. Grab a couple pieces of paper, crayons or markers, and something to write with! See the pictures to show how to make the graphic organizer for this activity. On the first paper, draw 3 beautiful things that CJ got to see that didn't cost any money. My example is the rainbow he saw when he and Nana made it to their stop on Market Street. At the bottom, write about two acts of kindness that Nana and CJ performed on their bus ride to Market Street. These do not have to be fancy and colorful, but they certainly can be if you want them to be! *Extension activity: Challenge your kids to come up with different random acts of kindness that he/she can perform while quarantined. It can be as simple as writing a letter to a family member, drawing a picture for a neighbor to leave on their door, or baking cookies for someone special. When you're done, you can snap a picture and post it to the "Look What We Did" post if you'd like! I can't wait to see your work on display!
